Agreement and limits
The Double Tenth Agreement endorsed principles such as peaceful reconstruction, political democratization, and nationalization of armies, but it did not resolve territorial control or force deployment. It created political language without a strong mechanism to halt competition on the ground.
The Marshall Mission and Political Consultative Conference followed, yet the Chongqing agreement mostly delayed the descent into full civil war. In the archive it functions as both the end of the talks and the starting point of a failed coalition design.
