Regional Classification
This is not the Japanese home-island zaibatsu dissolution or a SCAP reform record. It is classified under Korea because the legal and administrative process ran through USAMGIK and then the Republic of Korea, even though the assets originated in the Japanese imperial period.
Institutional Core
Law No. 74, the Vested Property Disposal Act, came into force on 19 December 1949 and defined the rules for administering and selling vested property other than farmland. The archive therefore connects it to ROK state building and economic administration rather than to Japan’s postwar economic reforms.
